Thank you for using the Oracle Applicant Tracking System (“Oracle”) of Stepan Company (“Stepan”). This Privacy Notice (this “Notice”) explains what personal information we collect through Oracle, why we collect it, how we use it, and who will have access to it, among other things. Your use of Oracle indicates your acceptance of this Notice.
Types of Information We Collect, Why We Collect It and How We Use It
Personal Information is information that can be used to uniquely and personally identify you. This can include your:
- First and last name
- Full home address
- Social security number
- Government issued ID numbers such as a passport or driver’s license number
- Telephone number
- Email address
Stepan collects this information for the purposes of recruitment, job applicant review and employment placement and will become a part your permanent record if you are hired. Your Personal Information will not be shared with third parties except in the following situations:
Background Screening or Assessment Services: Stepan may perform background or reference checks on job applicants, or use pre-employment tests as part of its hiring process. In these instances, your Personal Information may be shared with a third party vendor who performs these services.
With a government agency, when required by law: Stepan will provide Personal Information to government agencies if required to do so by law or court order.
With subcontracted internal service providers: Stepan may engage subcontractors for certain operational or other business functions. In this event, these third parties shall not be entitled to access or make use of Personal Information except in direct support of Stepan’s business and for the purposes set forth in this Notice.
Storing and Securing Your Personal Information
Stepan takes reasonable precautions to protect your Personal Information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.
Our headquarters are in the United States and you should know that we may store Personal Information we collect via Oracle on servers located within the United States or in another country. Different countries have different privacy laws and requirements, and some provide less legal protection for your Personal Information than others.
However, at least to the extent required by applicable law, foreign entities that receive your Personal Information have agreed (or are bound by law) to provide “adequate protection” for it, as that phrase (or variations thereof) is defined by the law of the country in which you reside.

Oracle, SAP, other vendors and consultants

Stepan takes data privacy and protection very seriously. If you have any questions about this Notice or our practices in general, or if you think that our collection or use of information is unfair, misleading or inappropriate, please contact the Stepan location of your application.
Accessing Your Personal Information
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to request access to and receive information about the Personal Information we maintain about you, to update and correct inaccuracies in your Personal Information, and to have the information blocked or deleted, as appropriate. The right to access Personal Information may be limited in some circumstances by local law requirements. To access your Personal Information, or to request correction to or deletion of your Personal Information, please contact the Stepan location of your application.
Updates to This Notice
This Notice may be updated periodically and without prior notice to you to reflect changes in our Personal Information practices. We will post those changes to Oracle or other areas where this Notice is distributed.
